Since the government has opened up an opportunity to Malaysian citizens & expatriates to get a jab on the AstraZeneca vaccine, many are excited about it, yet they are nervous. It has been more than a week since the slot for the AstraZeneca vaccination is now fully booked, and yet there is no information on how the process will go.
We have collected some information and experience from those who have successfully got their 1st dose of vaccination, and we will share the essential things to note with you.
1. Bring your IC & passport, prescriptions, your pen, and sweater
Do not bring the photocopy version of your passport and IC, as you won't be allowed to get your vaccination without the original identification. You will need to bring your own pen to avoid sharing and your jacket as it will be pretty chilly there.
If you are under medication or have any allergies, it would be best to bring your prescriptions & medicine too. There will be a doctor consultation session during the whole vaccination process.
2. Arrive Earlier
Do arrive at the selected health facility at least 45 minutes before your appointment time.
AJK will then call your time slot, and you will then need to queue at the designated station. You can find your station too in the MySejahtera app.
3. Counter A: Check-in & temperature check
There are multiple counters you might need to go for a different type of purpose.
For the first counter, you will need to wait for a QR code scan and temperature check, so take a seat and wait:
Seat will be allocated according to your given station
It will take around 5 to 10 minutes until you move to the next step
Your assigned Station group will be called to Scan QR to Check-In using MySejahtera; your temperature will be checked too
4. Counter B: Get the forms
On the second counter, you will need to fill up TWO (2) identical consent forms. [You will bring back 1 of the copy]
Forms will only be given as you reach the start of the queue
Fill up the required information in both forms
Do not sign the form yet, ss you will need to sign them in front of the doctor at the consultation area
Again, it will take around 5 to 10 minutes until you move to the next step
5. Counter C1: Identification check
In the next step, the health specialist will check your ID and Phone number. You might be required to scan the QR code again in the app.
They will check whether you know your own full name and phone number
Scan QR via Vaccination page in MySejahtera app
The whole process will take around 20 seconds
6. Counter C2: Consultation Area
Here, the doctor will try to find more information about your health, be direct and be honest. AstraZeneca is a robust vaccine, and you might not be fully aware of whether it will create any complications on your health.
Provide your forms to the doctor, and the doctor will ask questions about health
Show the doctor all the medicine or prescriptions you have, and be honest in sharing all of your medical profile
If everything is ok, sign the forms. The doctor will take 1 form, and you will keep the other one.
7. Counter D: Vaccination
Listen to instructions given by the specialist
Again, scan QR via Vaccination page in MySejahtera app
Process time: Approximately around 3mins
8. Counter E: Observation Area
Get seated in another queue while being observed; this is where the team will observe whether you will have any allergic reactions to the vaccines
Once you have reached the end of the queue, go to the final counter to get your vaccination card
Refresh the Vaccination page in the MySejahtera app to check if '1st Dose Completed' has appeared
Wait + process time: It will take around 15mins
Once you have gone through the eight steps above, it will take around 8-12 weeks until your 2nd dose of vaccinations. We want to advise you to continue to adhere to the SOP and build your immunity at least one week after your first vaccination.
Congratulation on your 1st dose of vaccination; everything is Fuego.
